Please Kill Me,

Greetings and happy Monday, sons of Adam and daughters of Eve, (and devout believers of evolution. #I’mNotChoosingSides). How the hell are ya’? Should the broken clock have been right for the first time today – THEN WE’RE ALL IN THE MATRIX, AND ANARCHY IS AFOOT!!!

Now that you’re awake, how’s about a little tea-time with your favorite tyrannical typer?

Quality of Thinking, (otherwise known as – something that we all have in various thread counts. #SeeWhatIDidThere? #SmartDumbJoke)

So, I’ve been doing a bit of forum diving lately. Not to say that I was looking for anything in particular, but more so, that I could pretend that I’ve actually been getting some human contact, (#ObessivelyWriting #CryForHelp).

While there, I noticed – (within the parameters of pretentious pandering)- a lot of complaining about the craft, the hardships, and the various methods of preventing anal leakage, (that last part should have been in parentheses #LooseCannon). My point is that there was a surprising amount of negativity for what should be a hopeful place for a hopeful medium.

I’m not going to go into detail too much about that, (absolute negativity infects absolutely), but I will say that I was disappointed in some of what I saw.

To me, when you embark on an artistic endeavor – you make a choice.

You make the choice that:

• Your goal is worth whatever it is that you have to sacrifice.
• You may have to miss a meal or two, (or three, or four, etc).
• You must continue, despite EVERYTHING telling you not to.

As well as a ton of other choices, (I’m sure that you can list about a million of your own).

My point is – *We choose this because we know what it means once we win.*

Of course, it’s a gamble. Anything in life worth chasing is going to be a gamble. But, the difference between us and someone who’s taking a bus home from Las Vegas with their pockets turned out – is that there is a definite light at the end of our tunnel. We just have to persevere long enough to get there.

In the age of computers, we have an advantage that no generation has ever had before. What we don’t know, can be learned at the click of a button, (and there’s probably a few thousand Youtube videos LITERALLY SHOWING YOU how to do ANYTHING!).

We no longer have to wait for the “specialist” to come to town. We don’t have to travel across the globe. All we have to do is to put in the effort, (obviously excluding the less fortunate. But let’s face it – if you’re reading this, you’re fine).

It’s sad for me to see people that are down in the dumps about what they’re doing. Don’t take a loss as the end all of your aspirations. Dust yourself off, and come back TEN TIMES HARDER.

(Look at the Fast and the Furious franchise! Four $H!TTY movies! And did they give up??? NO!!! Their eighth movie just made A BILLION plus, and they’re working on the sequel and a spin-off. DON’T YOU TELL ME PERSEVERANCE DOESN’T WORK!)

So this week, make yourself a promise to push all of that negative nonsense away. Do what you have to do to take care of yourself, and KEEP CHASING THE DREAM. At the end of our lives, it’ll be something that we’re proud to have taken the hits for.
