Habits

Dear World

Please Kill Me,

Hello all you word junkies (I’ll never get tired of calling you names, but know that I heart you). So, Habits -it’s a rough topic, so let’s talk about it.

I’m assuming that all of you are writers, at least to some extent. At the very least you have some kind of creative outlet. With the pressures of societal “norms” (aka workplace, bills, baby-punching) it can be difficult to balance your true passion beside it. Yea we all get it, things have to be done; but what about when that passion comes blitz-krieging through your life? Well for short, this does. We HAVE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

So we proceed. Engaging our true purpose. What wall stands in front of that, you ask. Good question, Answer: aforementioned societal “norm” bullshit. It hinders us. Makes us feel stinted in our creative growth, and as a backseat disorder, makes us appear to be horrible human beings. Thus, we form habits.

They’re meager at first. We picked it up young, left it there, and when we grew up, it was all that was left to run to. Smoking, drinking, (hell) even profusely excercising. All to achieve that high of escape. Not following your dreams, becomes a tangible fault. Worse yet, its creates a monkey that pummels your insides, until there’s nothing left.

Now I’m not trying to be morbid, (as a fact that was the hopeful part) but to extend an olive branch “I get it”. We can’t do what we need to, as much as we need to, so we do what we have to, to get by. My observation is, doesn’t that make it worse?

Drinkers are gonna drink. Smokers are gonna smoke (etc. third thing). My point is; (Listen up idiots. Ahh so good #passiveaggressive) that deep feeling in the pit of your stomach, it’s not anxiety. It’s not depression, it’s not OCD, it’s not autism. It’s your JOB. The one you were supposed to do, and it’s calling out to you.

So try as we may to drown that truth, it’s still there, and the habit just keeps growing stronger. You want to fix it? Do yourself a favor and embrace who you were meant to be.

Now I’m not saying that that’s the road to fame or fortune (Absolutely NOT!!!), but it is the road to addressing your problem. Be a better person. Create what YOU, were put here to create. Life is about chance, every time we attempt to ignore that with our habits, we’re daring life to give up on us.

Be you, that’s the answer. Isn’t that what you wanted?

Be back later.

Going for a smoke,

-Antwan Crump
