Please Kill Me,

Greetings my fellow sociopathic type-mongers. As always I hope the pen swills deftly beneath your palm (too much? You see; this is why I don’t get emotional). So, editing. For those of you who are long time readers of my blog (or even those of you who have recently joined “The Cult of Writer.”patent pending.) you may have caught on that editing is not exactly a strong point of mine. However what you may not know, is that it is.

All of us know how important it is to write properly, grammatically, structurally, linguistically, (you get the point). What a lot of authors don’t tell you about ( Spoiler Alert: I may be breaking some kind of code here) is that the first draft is NEVER the version you see. Often times, we get so caught up in the content, that it becomes easy to miss a word, misspell, forego proper punctuation, etc. But it’s okay -that’s all a part of the process.

There is nothing that breaks my heart more than talking to someone who doesn’t know that. Often times aspiring writers may be put off by their imperfect seed of a manuscript and walk away from it. NEVER DO THAT. Writing, is Re-Writing, is RE-WRITING (Literally quoting every writer who means anything). No that’s not a typo, YOU NEED TO REWRITE ALOT!!!!! Swallow that pill now, you’ll be better for it.

Now as far as this blog goes (for those of you who missed me on my digital soapbox), a big part of what I love about it, is that I can be myself. I can exercise that untamed portion of my craft and not give a damn who sees (pulls string, bucket of water falls on chest “AHH”…what movie is that from?)

Anyway , aside from that people seem to appreciate the authenticity in it, (seriously people are complimenting my authenticity. I thought I was just being a pretentious knob-gobbler, but hey #movingup) So for those reasons, this will remain what it has always been set-up to be. However for a true sense of what I do professionally, refer to my short stories, and/or the novel I have coming out soon (#BecomingUtopia)

So edit your little hearts out. Also heads up, don’t listen to that little voice that wants to gut-punch you while your perfecting your work, it’s lazy, your NOT, power through. Remember Save, Delete, Edit, Cut, Spell-Check, are all tools created by people who needed them to exist. So take advantage, and be happy you’re not tilling wheat somewhere. If you’re tilling wheat somewhere, be happy you’re not in jail. If you’re in jail; just be happy you’re not Jared from Subway.(And if you’re Jared from Subway F#$K YOU, YOU MONSTER!!!!)
